Randori It is the practical application of traditional techniques, where practitioners help each other to train the techniques learned in the form of combat. Attacks are completely real and the level of difficulty increases according to the skill of the practitioner.
GO RANDORI: One hits and the other dodges dynamically.
JU RANDORI: One grabs the body and the other defends. Important to work smoothness and technique.
SHITE RANDORI: Pre-established combat. An attack is announced and defended in every possible way.
RANDORI: Alternately, all forms of attacks and defenses with or without weapons are executed.
FUTARI RANDORI: Against two opponents armed or not.
TANINZU RANDORI: Against three or more opponents armed or not.
There are two main ways of practicing the Judô: Kata and Randori.
Kata, which literally means “form,” is practiced following a formal system of pre-established exercises, while the Randori, meaning “free exercises” is practiced freely.
The Judo Kata are the best way of defense and attack in numerous cases, having been systematized by theoretical studies.
n Kodokan, the eight main Katas adopted are as follows:
NAGE-NO-KATA (Forms of Projection)
Three representative techniques were chosen from each of the five Nagewazas.
KATAME-NO-KATA (Forms of Control in the Ground)
Five model techniques were chosen from each of the three Katamewazas.
KIME-NO-KATA (Forms of Decision)
They are to learn the most valuable techniques in a real fight. It consists of techniques in knee and foot positions.
JU-NO-KATA (Forms of Softness)
The forms of attack and defense were organized in very smooth and expressive movements.
O GOSHIN-JUTSU do KODOKAN (Forms of Personal Defense)
Modern techniques of Personal Defense consist of defenses against unarmed attacks and against weapons.
ITSUTSU-NO-KATA (“Five” Shapes)
They are incomplete forms, although they should have been included in the parts of the great Judo system of Prof. Kano.
KOSHIKI-NO-KATA (Old Forms)
Prof. Kano revised and adopted these forms to show what Judo consists of.
